Limb Reconstruction - An Emerging Speciality

Limb reconstruction is emerging as a Speciality in Orthopaedics. Reconstruction of Limbs after removal of Tumours in the bone, realigning Limbs after major injuries to bones and Soft Tissues. Fixed Contractures of Joints, Segemental Loss of bone due to Tumour, Accident or infection, Congenitally Crooked limbs, all can be brought back to normal or near normal by this technique.Limb reconstruction is emerging as a Speciality in Orthopaedics. Orthopan Tomogram(OPG)

A scanning device to visualise the bones of face, jaw bones and teeth. This visualisation helps in identifying fractures amd defects in jaw bones, and useful in teeth reconstruction. This equipment is the only one of its kind in the southern Dsitricts of TamilNadu.

Arthroscopy

Another marvel in modern Orthopaedics. The inside of a joint is viewed using an Arthroscope and a screen. Surgeries are performed through only a stab incision. Recovery is fast and surgery is more precise. At present shoulder and knee Arthroscopies are being done. Majority of the surgical work in these two joints are being done arthroscopically.
